Who We Are
Maritime Infrastructure Pacific (MIP) is a Fiji incorporated maritime infrastructure development company with capabilities in port and terminal development, international shipping, marine engineering, maritime project development and commercial advisory.
MIP combines practical maritime experience with commercial, operational and infrastructure development capability to approach maritime projects from the perspective of the shipping and trade activities they are intended to serve.
Our underlying principle is straightforward: maritime infrastructure should be developed around genuine operational and commercial requirements.
Our Origins
MIP’s origins extend beyond Fiji.
The business was initially established in Malaysia, drawing upon extensive experience in international shipping, maritime operations and commercial activities.
This experience was subsequently brought to Fiji, which developed a stronger focus on maritime engineering, infrastructure and opportunities within the Pacific.
As that focus broadened beyond engineering alone, the company evolved into Maritime Infrastructure Pacific (MIP), with a wider focus on maritime infrastructure development across the Pacific.
The transition reflects a wider purpose: to assist Pacific Island countries in identifying and maximising their maritime potential through commercially grounded and appropriately scaled maritime development.
Our Purpose
The Pacific is fundamentally a maritime region. Its economies, communities and international trade depend heavily upon the sea, yet geography, distance, cargo volumes and infrastructure constraints create challenges that differ considerably from those of larger markets.
MIP seeks to turn these characteristics into opportunities.
Our purpose is to identify where maritime infrastructure, shipping connectivity and associated marine services can create sustainable commercial and economic value.
Our Approach
MIP approaches maritime infrastructure development through the integration of commercial, operational and technical maritime expertise.
Our experience across shipping, ports and marine operations enables us to consider maritime infrastructure within the broader environment in which it must operate — connecting vessels, cargo, ports, logistics and international trade.
We combine international maritime experience with an understanding of Pacific operating conditions to develop practical, appropriately scaled and commercially focused solutions.
Our approach is guided by a simple principle:
Maritime infrastructure must work for the maritime industry it serves.
Pacific Focus
International maritime models cannot always be transferred directly into Pacific Island environments.
MIP combines international shipping and maritime experience with an understanding of the Pacific’s particular geography, trade patterns, operating conditions and communities.
Our objective is not simply to replicate what has been developed elsewhere, but to apply established maritime principles in ways that are appropriate to the Pacific.
Management
MIP is led by Master Mariners, whose careers encompasses commercial, operational and technical experience across container shipping, dry-bulk and liquid-bulk trades and maritime infrastructure.
That experience provides the foundation for MIP’s central philosophy:
Understanding maritime infrastructure from the perspective of those who actually use it.
